… and a FOTD! Perhaps the very first one on beaute fabuleuse as well, even?
Now I was very excited when Lily of ChloeAsh Tweeted asking if any bloggers would love to join her and her lovely Femme Boulevard group as guests ushering in the year 2013 with style by doing a themed look (As Femme Boulevard always does every month- themed looks I mean)… and without a second thought I jumped at the offer…
This proved to be quite a challenge indeed, especially since Mum has had surgery (Her surgery was initially planned to be some time after February 2013 but it couldn’t be delayed any more due to her discomfort) and my time has been dedicated to taking care of her- making sure she does her exercises/physiotherapy and assisting her in moving around as she still needs the aid of a walker. But all is well- she’s doing much better as the days pass and I managed to come up with a look! It was not easy I tell you, especially for a makeup greenhorn such as myself :s
The theme? Shiny/metallic lids and bold/vampy lips.
Image nicked from BellaSugar.
I cracked my head for a few days wondering what should I do with the theme, and there were times I got so frustrated with experimenting I just wanted to pull out haha! I initially planned on doing a makeup mask, something like the one picture above but my inexperience and clumsy hands got the best of me :( So I had to do come up with something less elaborate and takes less skill…
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what I came up with, after almost 2 hours of experimenting and playing around:
I was thinking, as I drew on my eyeliner – “Hey, since I love eyeliner so much, and it’s the very first makeup product I’ve ever used (Even before powder/foundation), why not pile on the eyeliner and make a really exaggerated eyeliner look?” and that’s pretty much how the look came to be. I also added some very fine purple glitter powder I apparently had lying around onto my lids and added some nail art diamantes around my eyes to add to the “sparkly” theme, put on some not-in-nude-or-pink-coloured lipstick and voila!
I’m terribly sorry at the picture quality though! Lighting isn’t very good about the time I took the photos and this is apparently the best place in the house :( That’s why you hardly ever see FOTDs on beaute fabuleuse, actually :P The glitter/sparkly lids doesn’t seem to want to show up as well, how rude of them!
I initially had Laura Mercier Lip Lacquer in Laque Rouge from the Art Deco Muse collection, but the bright red seemed a wee bit too “off” and didn’t really match the eyes, so I kind of toned it down with Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait Lip Colour in Avarice M06. I blotted off the Lip Lacquer and, with a bit of stain still left over, applied the Rouge G L’Extrait right on top. Hopefully it still counts as bold/vampy lips though! :P
Yes, this is officially the first ever FOTD on beaute fabuleuse. It’s been both very exciting and challenging to me to have done this, and I have to say I’m proud to have gone through with it and done this! It’s not the best of looks out there, I admit (The other ladies have done a better job I’m sure!), and my skills definitely need much more sharpening and improving. I also hope I did not blind anyone, though :P But eh, there’s always a first for everything! I’d really like to thank Lily for giving me this opportunity to push myself, and also to the other supportive fellow bloggers! ;)

Hello sweetie! Your look is utterly gorgeous and elaborate!
Hello love! Aww thank you so much! Definitely not wearable… :P
Great job!
Thank you! xxxx
OOO I heart the arty liner! I’ve made similar attempts in the past but they didn’t turn out too well. I’m pretty clumsy, so even learning to line my eyes properly in the normal way took some time, but you rock this with so much ease!
Haha thank you Sunny! Well if you look very closely the lines weren’t exactly clean and it took me a few tries and tweaking to draw all of the lines too! But thank you so much- I do love my eyeliner :D Though I can never apply eyeshadow the way you ladies too!

I absolutely love this. Haha… amazing, Steph!!
Aww thank you Lily! xxxx The sparkly lids didn’t turn out very well so I had to improvise with bling LOL
Hurray for your first FOTD! I love the shape you drew with your eyeliner – very artsy and reminds me of a mask, just like the inspiration!
Aww thank you so much! :D I’m glad you liked it! Definitely worth all the pain now haha :P
ooooh! I agree, it totally looks like your inspiration photo! So pretty! I love that you did this. :) Happy new year!
Thank you so much Joyce, am really touched :D It’s the best I could attempt, being my first time and being a newbie haha! Happy new year to you too! :)
also, i love the lip combo you put together! :)
Hehe thank you! :) It was a spur-of-the-moment thing… I guess sometimes things are better that way :P
Hello gorgeous! I think you should do fotd more often because you are such a pretty lady! I looove your look, it’s daring but you did a great job! I hope your mom is still getting better! :)
Hello Teri! Aww thank you so much for your comment, it really made me blush! I will try to do more FOTDs for 2013 :) Thank you for the well wishes- she’s definitely getting better! :D
