Bunny Brooch From iamsjm*

*Waves* Hello! Apologies for the serious lack of updates- lots of things have happened that are occupying my time which leaves me with none to write even though I’ve amassed a huge collection of potential products that I want to review in the meantime!

I’ve been contemplating on what product to review as my first “proper” beauty-related review of 2013… but I only have photos of foundations and my current crushes are a foundation and a cleanser, and they’re products which I’ve been reviewing a lot… I haven’t been free enough to photograph the eyeshadows and eyeshadow palettes that I’m using and loving so far, so I thought I’d do something different for this one! It’s something beauty-related at least, still, and something I really really adore! :P

Now I have a serious love for handmade items. When I read Trona of Aye Lined‘s post about a handmade porcelain Bunny Brooch from iamsjm*, I was immediately smitten! Doesn’t help that my husband calls me “bunny” or “rabbit” affectionately at times ever since we started dating on account of my “rabbit teeth”, so deep down inside I do have a little soft spot for bunnies/rabbits :P  I don’t usually wear brooches though and have never owned one properly myself (The only one I have is a vintage one from Mum which I never wore), but this was just too cute to resist!

So I got one. iamsjm* themselves don’t ship internationally, but an email inquiring about it pointed me to Not On The High Street, where they listed it for me, so I was able to get my hands on it! Hurrah for wonderful customer service here :D

It comes in a small, simple yet beautiful, monogrammed gift box and is well-lined and well-packed to protect against any bumps in transit.

Fujifilm Astalift Jelly Aquarysta

Yes you heard right- Fujifilm, a brand name synonymous with film, cameras, photography and imaging, being associated with skincare. Who would’ve thought? As it turns out from what I’ve read, it’s actually been quite a while already (With Fujifilm incorporating and linking their knowledge of keeping photos great into skincare to keep skin great and looking photogenic as well), and the Astalift Jelly Aquarysta from Fujifilm‘s skincare brand Astalift is apparently quite a famous and award-winning premium skincare product in Japan that’s also fast becoming a cult beauty product in the U.K.! Anyway, I was only recently introduced to this concept and subsequently product, by the lovely Sukie of A Little Bit Of Everything, and I was immediately intrigued as despite not having much reviews being written about it, most if not all the reviews were absolutely glowing and sung its praises.

After much researching on where I could get Astalift locally in Malaysia (Apparently it is available locally, though the locations are quite limited), I was able to get my hands on my first 40g tub of the Astalift Jelly Aquarysta at their roadshow counter at AEON in 1 Utama :D I’ve recently restocked it since I was in MidValley Megamall, where the counter is in the AEON there, and managed to get a limited edition 60g tub instead!

Fujifilm Astalift Jelly Aquarysta

Its unique name is derived from AQUA and CRYSTAL, which symbolises the light-as-water texture of the clear red jelly, and the crystal-clear, moisturised skin it brings.

A jelly serum focuses to improve skin moisture retention ability, promotes long-lasting radiance and clearness. With the moisturising nano ceramide penetrates into skin’s stratum corneum, skin feels smooth and moist.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

If you’re a fan of tattoos- I am, and I myself personally have a few tattoos (Which I will one day talk about, promise), you should at least know who Kat Von D is or are familiar with her, and her self-named, exclusive to Sephora (Though not in the physical stores in Malaysia it seems- I’ve only seen her small fragrance rollerball sets so far and nothing else) makeup range has always been on my radar even though I am not a huge fan of her personally, but more of I am a fan of the philosophy, feel and imagery behind the makeup range. Come on, it’s tattoos and has a vintage theme! :P

Image nicked from Squidoo. An old photo of Kat Von D for her makeup line, but my favourite.

It was only recently that I’ve finally managed to get my hands on the one thing I’ve been lemming-ing and lusting after the most from her makeup range, the Tattoo Liner, from the U.S.A. Sephora site thanks to my beloved boyfriend and the wonderful forwarding service he provides so I can shop :D I am a HUGE self-confessed eyeliner junkie, and eyeliner is the very first makeup product I’ve used, even before base makeup. It was Estee Lauder Artist’s Eye Pencil in 01 Softsmudge Black (Which is now sadly discontinued), and ever since then I’ve gone through and tried quite a few (OK, quite a lot of) eyeliners- pencil, liquid, gel, you name it. But without further adieu…

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

What it is:
A liquid liner pen that works on the face and the body.

What it does:
Achieve dramatic eyes and create temporary tattoos with this water-resistant must-have that brings out the artist in you. The innovative brush tip makes it easy to make your personal vision a reality.

Inglot Freedom System Eyeshadow Duo

Presenting my official, very first eyeshadows, from Inglot, in form of an eyeshadow duo in their famous Freedom System palette! This is all credited to the lovely Sukie of A Little Bit Of Everything, who suggested Inglot eyeshadows to me after I’ve been brainstorming about finding the “perfect” brand and eyeshadow shades (Namely green and gold) for my Lady Loki cosplay project (Which I mentioned about here) and directing me to her review of them here. I have heard many good things about Inglot eyeshadows and was immediately sold after reading her review, and thanks to Sukie‘s efforts I was able to get my hands on them! :)

Inglot‘s Freedom System is basically a build-your-own system, and the palettes come in a huge variety- they can range from holding 2 to 40 eyeshadows in a palette, and are not limited to only eyeshadows but can also hold blushes and/or powders (Depending on palette). While the standard size of a refill is square or slightly rectangular, there are also round-shaped refills for concealers and/or lipsticks. They can also be stacked on top of each other (I assume if the sizes all match so it’s easier, considering they use magnets), creating a truly unique, personal and customised palette.

Inglot Freedom System Eyeshadow Duo

Our unique Freedom System allows customers to experiment with countless shades and colour combinations of different face products, giving them the opportunity to create their own customised colour palette.

Lovely Fings From Fushigi Shop

As I’ve mentioned in this previous post of mine, I have a huge thing for handmade items as they make me happy, and one of my favourite avenues for beautiful handmade things at the moment is Fushigi Shop, introduced to me by none other than Sukie from A Little Bit Of Everything (You are a bad, bad influence, missy).

Fushigi Shop is the wonderful creation of the lovely Yasumi, curator of the House Of Blues, also known as Worshipblues. Not only does she write in the most whimsically beautiful way and takes simply stunning photographs, her creations are astoundingly bespoke and in a word: gorgeous. In the own words of Fushigi Shop themselves: “This is no ordinary shop“, and I can assure you that it really isn’t!

Dear Sukie was my catalyst to owning the “fings” (As Yasumi calls them) I have from Fushigi Shop– not one, but two pretty “fings”! :D And I dare say now that I am mightily pleased as punch with them, and you shall see why :)

I mentioned that I love handmade items because of the personal touches that comes with them, not just from the item itself (Which is crafted with much love and care), but everything surrounding it, for example the packaging that they come with- which in this case is aesthetically pleasing to me. I don’t know, it gives me a lovely vintage-like feel, and is definitely perfect as a gift! The labels also have a little thank you note on them, at the back ;)
