Bunny Brooch From iamsjm*

*Waves* Hello! Apologies for the serious lack of updates- lots of things have happened that are occupying my time which leaves me with none to write even though I’ve amassed a huge collection of potential products that I want to review in the meantime!

I’ve been contemplating on what product to review as my first “proper” beauty-related review of 2013… but I only have photos of foundations and my current crushes are a foundation and a cleanser, and they’re products which I’ve been reviewing a lot… I haven’t been free enough to photograph the eyeshadows and eyeshadow palettes that I’m using and loving so far, so I thought I’d do something different for this one! It’s something beauty-related at least, still, and something I really really adore! :P

Now I have a serious love for handmade items. When I read Trona of Aye Lined‘s post about a handmade porcelain Bunny Brooch from iamsjm*, I was immediately smitten! Doesn’t help that my husband calls me “bunny” or “rabbit” affectionately at times ever since we started dating on account of my “rabbit teeth”, so deep down inside I do have a little soft spot for bunnies/rabbits :P  I don’t usually wear brooches though and have never owned one properly myself (The only one I have is a vintage one from Mum which I never wore), but this was just too cute to resist!

So I got one. iamsjm* themselves don’t ship internationally, but an email inquiring about it pointed me to Not On The High Street, where they listed it for me, so I was able to get my hands on it! Hurrah for wonderful customer service here :D

It comes in a small, simple yet beautiful, monogrammed gift box and is well-lined and well-packed to protect against any bumps in transit.

Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year!

Wishing all Beaute Fabuleuse readers a happy and prosperous Chinese/lunar new year, which begins on the 10th February! It’s the year of the Water SnakeGui Si.

CNY 2013

Image nicked from here

May the year keep getting better for those who are already having a great one, and may it get better for those who were having a mediocre one :) Am full of anticipation for the year ahead (Even though astrologically the energies of the year have already started to enter quite some time ago, culminating on 4th February)- I believe that things will only get better, and I shall of course work to make it so! :D

Am spending my new year’s here in Labuan – even though the office is effectively closed during the holidays, there’s no holidays for us bar our employees/colleagues as we would still be working! Such is our work line :P I won’t be back in K.L. until the 23rd February and hopefully I will get a short breather then.

In the mean time, have fun for those who are having holidays, but for those who aren’t, may this “new start” (As the Chinese believe- since it’s considered the start of spring) bring positive things in your life! :)

Doing My Own Makeup For…

Hello! Am now in Labuan and will most probably be here until the end of February :) It’s going to be quite a busy year for me- with courses and flying back and forth, but in the meantime I’ll still try to update as much as I can!

As most of you might know, I am here not only for work, but also for the solemnisation, or the registration of my marriage to my dear other half, which was held on the 19th January 2013 :) It was a short, legal ceremony at the National Registration Department with the ring exchange and signing of the marriage certificate, followed by a beach pre-wedding photoshoot, and finally a simple buffet dinner reception later that night at the Palm Beach Resort & Spa beach pavilion for our employees, friends, clients and suppliers here.

And… I actually did my own makeup for the whole day! :P It’s quite a feat considering how I don’t exactly have confidence in my own makeup skills, and for such an important event as well :s I also did my own hair! It’s not that I wanted to skimp on a hairdresser or a makeup artist, but there were no reliable ones here so I had no choice really :(

I have to say- this is the most makeup I’ve ever brought along to Labuan, as I usually go with the bare minimum and  ones that are easier to travel with, but since this is a special occasion I guess allowances has to be made :P I’m also trying to go for a more natural, polished look, as it’s by the beach and not so formal so no need for anything special.

So what were the makeup I used for my big day?

Lemming List – January 2013

To start off the new year, here’s my Lemming List, the January 2013 edition!

Hopefully the Lemming List will be a more frequent thing on beaute fabuleuse– maybe not monthly, but more of a 3- to 6-months-once thing? I was looking through and pinning stuff on one of my Pinterest boards- Beauty Stuff I Want– when I thought, “Hey, why not?” :P I am also partly inspired by one of Joyce of Bronzer Bunny‘s post- Brands I Want More Of In 2013 :) However, not every single thing I want is on this list, though, just things I am really crushing on as I’m writing this post right now!

Happy New Year 2013!

I’d just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and wonderful new year ahead!

Also, to commemorate the new year- a new layout! What do you think? Let me know :D

2012 has been extremely great to me- it’s definitely been a year of massive changes and even with the so-called “bad” or “negative” changes, it’s definitely all for the better- laying down the foundation to a better future ahead, definitely, and improved as a person overall ;) Here’s to wishing that 2013 will be just as great if not better!

No new year’s resolutions- am not a fan of making and keeping them- just wishes that things will keep improving or at least maintain, and that even with obstacles, which are of course inevitable, things will turn out for the best and may we keep learning from them and keep becoming better people :D

Here’s some parting food for thought for the new year’s: a little paraphrased quote from Joey Yap, which I find very true and also live by: “Everyone is interested in the end result of something… but not many people are interested in doing the things… taking the action… going through the hard work to get to that end result“. So yes, to make when you want to happen happen, you’ll have to find out how and most importantly work for it! :)

Posts on beaute fabuleuse will resume as soon as and whenever I can, especially with 2013 planned out to be a busy one for me, what with my upcoming wedding, travels (Hopefully!) and courses! ;) Will try my best to update as much as possible!

P/S: Oh I nearly forgot- I’m on Pinterest now too!  Here are my pin-boards :D
