O.P.I. Avojuice Skin Quenchers In Vanilla Snowflake

I’ve not had the problem of dry skin until about 5 years ago, when I’ve moved from Labuan to Kuala Lumpur (Or more precisely, Petaling Jaya) for my tertiary education. Not only did dryness affect my facial skin (Which will be a post by itself in time), but also the skin on my body as well. I find that conventional body lotions, brands like Nivea, St. Ives, Johnson & Johnson and Vaseline, were slowly not working for me (When they previously sufficed)- either they were not moisturising enough (My skin still looked scaly) or they felt greasy after application.

Enter O.P.I. Avojuice Skin Quenchers!

I first had my foray into O.P.I. Avojuice Skin Quenchers about a year or so back when I had my pedicure done at Colour Culture at Sunway Giza Mall. The first one I tried was some warm chocolate-ish scent which name I forgot now, and the second one was the Peach Juicie. I was very satisfied with it- it is moisturising enough for my skin, kept it soft and supple, smells good and was not greasy at all after application, which is very important to me. I really do not like the feeling of crossing my legs after applying body lotion and feeling them slide against each other due to the greasiness.

And recently I have bought Vanilla Snowflake, which description according to the website is:

A wintery blend of sweet vanilla and buttercream! Limited-edition Avojuice Vanilla Snowflake treats skin to a drink of smooth, rich moisturizers plus nourishing Avocado and Aloe extracts – with the blissful aroma of vanilla and buttercream!

I saw it in the latest O.P.I. flyer (October/November 2011) at Posh Nails Nail Salon Kota Damansara while I was doing my pedicure last month, and was intrigued by the description of the scent. I liked it so much, I bought two bottles, solely because they were limited edition and what if I ran out? :(

It really smells of sweet vanilla and buttercream- normally vanilla-type smells tend to go all powdery on me, but this doesn’t. I’d say that it smells pretty sweet, but not in a sickly, cloying manner. In fact, the overall scent is really reminiscent to me of vanilla cupcakes… so much so that sometimes I find myself craving one after applying it. And once after my shower and applying this body lotion, I walked past my Dad, and he asked who’s baking cookies haha! At first I wasn’t sure what he was talking about, then I realised it and let him smell my arm, and he confirmed it was that smell- he apparently likened it to cookies :P The scent also got a thumbs up from Mum, who is very picky about scents, which is a good thing!

As for texture, it’s the standard body lotion texture- not too thick and not too light actually. It’s not exactly creamy, nor is it waxy. I find it a little too greasy for application on just hands (I prefer using a dedicated hand cream for my hands), but otherwise on the other parts of my body, e.g. arms and legs it’s perfectly fine. The ingredients list state the presence of silicone, but it doesn’t feel silicone-y, if you know what I mean. My body isn’t that picky when it comes to ingredients, unlike my face :P

The other body lotion which I tried that was almost equivalent in these aspects (Except a difference in scents of course) were the Crabtree & Evelyn Citron, Honey & Coriander Skin Quenching Body Lotion, but it’s slightly more pricey.

O.P.I. Avojuice Skin Quenchers in Vanilla Snowflake costs RM 58 for 200ml, and can be found in all Colour Culture outlets (Where I bought mine) and/or certain nail salons that carry O.P.I. products. Based on my experience, when used twice a day every day, one bottle can last about a month, so it can be a bit pricey for some.

If the usual drugstore body lotions are good enough for you- as in not greasy and does a good job in keeping your skin moisturised, chances are you might not need this. Unless of course you’re as crazy as I am about the scent! For me, this is definitely a favourite- not only does it smell wonderful, but it also does a good job moisturising my skin :)
