Every Sunday I shall share here a beauty tip that I’ve read or heard about, and leave my comments or thoughts on it. Please feel free to leave your views, too! :)
I personally find this tip quite important because when I was about 16-17 years old I had severe acne breakout which was mainly hormonal in nature, that was eventually “cured” after medication and diligent facials (And since then I am always afraid of having a relapse until now). Then I started a skincare regimen using products from The Body Shop, which was mainly the Seaweed range, which was for combination oily skin, because I felt that my skin was always very oily and was looking at products targeted for oily skin. It wasn’t until I got a proper skin analysis by Dermalogica one day (Out of curiousity) that I found out that my skin was actually sensitive and dehydrated, and that it’s oily only because it’s lacking moisture and thus compensates for it by producing more oil. I was sceptical at first, but when I found that using products that are targeted for sensitive skin actually made my skin look and feel better, I am a believer.
Now that I am older, my skin is leaning towards dry, so I tend to lookout for products that still suit my sensitive skin, but for those tending towards dry. I find that products that are too rich and/or moisturising or nourishing for me doesn’t work and can cause whiteheads or breakouts, so like I’ve mentioned, it’s all about knowing your skin type :)
There are a lot of options for skin analysis to find out what your skin type is- you can go see your doctor (Which I highly recommend particularly if you have severe acne breakouts) or a dermatologist (If available), and most facial salons also offer skin type analysis such as Dermalogica, Clarins, Decleor, Jurlique (To name a few) as well as skincare counters such as Clinique. You are obviously not obliged to buy the brand’s products or to sign up for their packages and such (Unless explicitly stated), but no harm in sampling and seeing what works, yes?
In other news, a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all Beaute Fabuleuse readers! :) Since I am now back from Labuan, do stay tuned for more updates and/or reviews!
